Yashasvi Jaiswal has been ruled out of Mumbai's Ranji Trophy semi-final clash against Vidarbha due to an ankle niggle, according to a report on ESPNCricinfo. The southpaw is believed to have sustained this injury during training over the weekend, and as a result, he will not be fit to face Vidarbha in the semis starting February 17 (Monday).
Jaiswal was initially part of India's Champions Trophy squad but was later named as a non-travelling reserve to make way for Varun Chakravarthy in the 15. Following this injury, he is expected to return home, but Mumbai will not name a replacement for him as they have enough resources.
Shivam Dube, who is also part of the Mumbai squad, is part of the non-travelling reserve for India's Champions Trophy squad and will fly to Dubai when required.
Jaiswal, who had a stellar year in Tests in 2024, made his One-Day International (ODI) debut in Nagpur, replacing Virat Kohli, who was ruled out due to an injury. The 23-year-old scored just 15 in that match.
He played just one game in the Ranji Trophy this season - against Jammu & Kashmir - against whom he scored 4 and 26.
Mumbai squad: Ajinkya Rahane (c), Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Amogh Bhatkal, Suryakumar Yadav, Siddhesh Lad, Shivam Dube, Akash Anand (wk), Hardik Tamore (wk), Suryansh Shedge, Shardul Thakur, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Mohit Avasthi, Sylvester D'Souza, Royston Dias, Atharva Ankolekar, Harsh Tanna
