Sameer Rizvi is in red-hot form as he hit his second double century of the ongoing Men’s U23 State A Trophy. The Uttar Pradesh skipper took just 105 balls to score 202* in the clash against Vidarbha, where they were chasing 407, on December 25.
Delhi Capitals will be pleased with the right-hander’s current form, especially with how he has approached both double centuries in the tournament. Earlier this week, on December 23, the right-hander had smashed a 97-ball 201*, where he hit 20 sixes and 13 fours in the clash against Arunachal Pradesh.
In the Arunachal game, Rizvi was at his best towards the leg-side, including a few ramp shots in the fine leg region, clearing the boundary with ease. But against Vidarbha, he targeted the straight boundary with sublime timing against the spinners.
Rizvi didn’t stop there. With a few hits against the spinners towards the vacant cover region, he brought up his second double century in the tournament. After a stellar start for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he smashed a six against Rashid Khan off the first ball, Rizvi’s IPL career took a downward curve. He could score just 51 runs in eight games at an average of 12.75.
Across his entire IPL stint, the 21-year-old could only hit six boundaries, including two sixes. But CSK did not retain him and DC took the fullest advantage, purchasing him at the 2025 IPL Mega Auction for just INR 95 lakhs.
After his snub from Uttar Pradesh’s Vijay Hazare Trophy, the right-hander has smashed 728 runs in six innings, including 62 sixes and 52 fours.
