The 2024/25 Big Bash League (BBL) keeps producing bizarre moments, and we’re all here for it.
On January 9 (Thursday), in the clash between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars, James Vince drilled a powerful hit straight to long-on which ended up seriously injuring a Seagull.
As the seagull lay motionless after the impact, the batter Vince looked on in absolute horror.
It’s been less than 24 hours since that incident and we’ve already had another bizarre-o moment, this time in the clash between Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes.
On the first ball of the fourth over of the Thunder innings, Riley Meredith came back for his second over and sent in a quick one outside off-stump on a driveable length.
David Warner slapped it straight towards mid-off but the result was not what the left-hander expected as he ended up breaking his bat. But this was not the highlight of this particular incident.
After it broke, the bat dangled and rather comically hit Warner on the back of his head. Completely taken aback by the accidental pat on the back of his helmet, Warner let out a loud ‘OHHHH’.
The incident left the commentators in splits, and even Warner himself saw the funny side of it.
The change of bat didn’t impact the Aussie great one bit, though, as he went on to play yet another vital innings for the Thunder to become the leading run-getter this season.
