Former Saurashtra all-rounder Sitanshu Kotak is reportedly in line to coach the India ‘A’ side for its red-ball assignment in Australia starting later this month.
Kotak, who played 130 first-class games between 1992 and 2013, is a coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and has previously even assisted the national team. He was the senior side’s batting coach for the ODI series in South Africa last year and was also the head coach of the India ‘A’ side for the tour away to Bangladesh in 2022.
Times of India reports that the 52-year-old will take charge for the upcoming red-ball assignment that will see India ‘A’ play two unofficial Tests against Australia ‘A’ and an intra-squad match against the Indian Men’s senior side.
BCCI have already announced the squad for the assignment and the group will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. It also features other BGT hopefuls in Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sai Sudharsan, Mukesh Kumar and Yash Dayal.
The first unofficial Test will be played from October 31 to November 3 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay. The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host the second unofficial Test from November 7 to November 10.
