After the six-run win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR) wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson has travelled straight to Bengaluru from Guwahati on March 31 (Monday). The wicketkeeper will now head to the Centre of Excellence (CoE), where he will seek approval to resume full duties.
Till now, Samson has only played as a specialist batter and was used as an impact player option. But once he gets approval from CoE, he will take over the leadership duties from Riyan Parag. The Royals have secured just one win across their three games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
"He will seek clearance to do so for the remaining games and is expected to be back as skipper from the RR's next match, which is nearly a week away," said a source, reported Cricbuzz.
Thus far, Samson hasn’t had the best of IPL 2025s, with scores of 66 (vs SRH), 13 (vs KKR) and 20 (vs CSK). Rajasthan’s next fixture is an away game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on April 5.
