Former India captain Kris Srikkanth labelled Gujarat Titans’ R Sai Kishore the best spinner in IPL 2025, and asserted that the Tamil Nadu man has the potential to become a regular for India in T20Is.
Bought for just INR 2 crore at the mega auction, Sai Kishore has made an exceptional start to IPL 2025 so far, taking 6 wickets at an economy of 7.42 while playing on some absolute belters. He began the season with a three-fer against Punjab Kings and has since not looked back. He was one of the pick of the bowlers in the GT vs RCB clash on April 2 (Wednesday), returning 2/22 off his 4 overs when his experienced partner Rashid Khan got hammered for 54 off his 4 overs.
“100% he is the best left-arm spinner in this IPL so far. He’s played three matches so far and has bowled superbly,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.
“He has a high-arm action, he is bowling fast, and he is giving no width to the batters whatsoever. If he keeps performing like this, he’ll start for India in T20Is very soon. I’m telling you, he’s a potential regular for India in T20Is.”
In Sai Kishore’s spell of 2/22 against RCB, the moment that stood out was his dismissal of Krunal Pandya, which came off a never-seen-before carrom ball which he unleashed for the first time ever.
Speaking of the carrom ball, Sai Kishore said after RCB’s innings, “To be relevant in T20 cricket, you have to keep evolving. Over the last 3-4 years I have been practicing that ball but haven't bowled it anywhere (the one which dismissed Krunal). But I felt I was confident enough to bowl it in this IPL so I went with my instinct. It's like a carrom ball. I get more dip on it. I don't know what it is so I can call it anything.”
The 28-year-old has already played three T20Is for India, all of them coming at the Asian Games in 2023.
