Rohit Sharma’s wait for a half-century continues, as the Mumbai batter has now failed to score a half-century in almost five months. The right-handed opener, who started the innings strong, was on 28 off 35 balls against Jammu and Kashmir on January 24 before tamely hitting the ball straight to the fielder, continuing his disappointing red-ball run.
The 37-year-old Rohit started the innings in the most Rohit-esque manner pulling J&K’s pacer Umar Nazir Mir for a tall six over the square leg region. Rohit then tonked Aquib Nabi for an aesthetic six over the long-off region, his second in the span of 11 deliveries, entertaining the small crowd at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy.Â

Two turned three when Rohit delightfully timed one towards the long-on region, bringing more life to the crowd lined up at the venue for the Indian captain. But just when it felt like Rohit was going to make it big and convert his start into his first half-century in over four months, the Mumbai batter hit the ball straight to Abid Mushtaq.Â
Despite that, Rohit will take a lot of positives from this particular innings, considering it was the first time in 12 innings that he crossed the 20-run mark, putting an end to his single-digit streak. The last time Rohit got himself to a half-century in the red-ball format was the 52 he scored against New Zealand in Bengaluru on October 16.Â
