Ravindra Jadeja continued his rampant form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy round against Delhi, with his 10th ten-wicket haul in first-class cricket, including removing star batter Rishabh Pant for 17 on January 24. With conditions favouring the spinners, Jadeja took the new ball alongside Jaydev Unadkat for the hosts Saurashtra, picking two out of the three top-order batters.
Jadeja then continued his merry run to remove the left-handed Jonty Sidhu, which brought the Indian swashbuckling batter Pant out to the crease. Pant took his time at the crease, helping Delhi stabilise themselves after they found themselves in grave danger at 33/4.
Just about when Pant was looking to switch gears, the left-arm spinner ended his stay with an edge to the wicketkeeper Sheldon Jackson. That brought Pant’s stay at the crease to an abrupt end on 17, as Delhi were still on the lookout to salvage some pride in the clash at Rajkot.
Amidst all the failures of the Indian stars, Jadeja’s return to domestic cricket has been quite sublime, with the left-arm spinner picking up figures of 5/66 in the first innings, bringing up the record double of 3,000 runs + 200 wickets. It was his 10th ten-wicket haul in first-class cricket, with the left-arm spinner's figures reading 7/38.
