Ravi Bishnoi’s batting stocks continue to rise. The 24-year-old started his career as a specialist bowler but is now making noticeable progress with the bat in hand.
Following posting his highest score in List A cricket last month, a 40 batting at No.9 against Odisha in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Bishnoi has now posted his highest-ever first-class score in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal between Gujarat and Saurashtra.
Batting at No.9, the right-hander smashed 45 off 50 balls against a strong Saurashtra attack to help Gujarat take a 295-run first-innings lead in the knockout clash.
Walking in at 439/7, Bishnoi took no prisoners as he smashed five fours and two sixes. In the end, he fell agonizingly short of a maiden fifty-plus score at the professional level.
Bishnoi showed glimpses of his batting improvement in the T20I series against England too. In the second T20I in Chennai, he strung together an unbeaten 20-run stand with Tilak Varma to help India get over the line. Bishnoi hit two boundaries in his 9* off 5 balls, and that mini contribution eventually proved to be decisive.
Apart from being an X-factor bowler, the 24-year-old already has a reputation for being a gun fielder as well. He’s taken many a sensational catch in his young career.
