Sheldon Jackson, on February 11 (Tuesday), announced his retirement from professional cricket after Saurashtra lost to Gujarat in the quarter-final of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy.
The 38-year-old retires from red-ball cricket with 7,283 runs in 106 first-class games at an average of 45.80, studded with 21 tons and 39 fifties.
Jackson could only manage scores of 14 and 27 in the quarter-final, as Saurashtra lost the game by an innings and 98 runs. Last month, the right-handed batter announced his retirement from white-ball cricket.
“I never thought I would reach this far, But God made it possible. My mother who let me live the dream and my wife who lived it with me my two little boys who don't even know what this and how much this means to me but where still there to support me when I get back after tough days and matches,” Jackson wrote on his Instagram post.
In his last Ranji Trophy season, Jackson scored 334 runs in 11 innings at an average of 30.36. In white-ball cricket, Jackson scored over 4,600 runs across two formats, including 10 centuries and 25 fifties.
