Haris Rauf has been cleared fit ahead of Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 opener against New Zealand on February 19. There were concerns over Rauf’s fitness after the pacer walked off during the tri-series clash against New Zealand, where he bowled just 6.2 overs.
While the pacer missed the rest of the tri-series, he has now recovered in time for their ICC contest. Rauf revealed that he’s returned to bowling in the nets, and his participation will depend on the team management.
“I have started doing exercises a few days back and also resumed bowling since yesterday. I am feeling comfortable and my body is okay now the team management will decide about my playing in the opening match,” Haris Rauf was quoted by wire agency PTI as telling reporters at the National Stadium.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), too, have announced that the pacer’s injury isn’t that ‘serious’, expecting him to return.
“The injury is not serious and he is expected to be fully recovered for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which commences in Karachi on 19 February,” read a PCB statement.
“I think we have always formed a good bowling combination with pace and spin and it will not be different in the tournament.”
