It was a one-sided affair at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on April 3 (Thursday) as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) succumbed to an 80-run loss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This, therefore, becomes their worst-ever defeat in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
80 runs vs KKR, Kolkata, 2025
78 runs vs CSK, Chennai, 2024
77 runs vs CSK, Hyderabad, 2013
72 runs vs RR, Hyderabad, 2023
72 runs vs PBKS, Sharjah, 2014
This is also KKR's third biggest win at the Eden Gardens.
82 runs vs RCB, 2017
81 runs vs RCB, 2023
80 runs vs SRH, 2025
71 runs vs DC, 2018
48 runs vs SRH, 2013
This was SRH's third loss of the season, all coming in succession. As a result, they are at the bottom of the points table with just two points from four matches.
SRH were on top in the initial stages of the match, as they removed KKR openers Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine for single digits inside three overs. However, KKR's middle-order came to the party, and they took their side to 200 - an over-par total at the venue.
SRH's opening partnership failed once again, and they were quickly reduced to 9/3 as Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana wreaked havoc in the powerplay. From there on, they never really had any momentum, barring 27 off 20 from Kamindu Mendis and 33 off 21 from Heinrich Klaasen.
SRH will hope to snap the losing streak when they take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in Hyderabad on April 6 (Sunday).
