It was one good news after another for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) as, after they registered their first win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, they now have their regular captain, Sanju Samson, cleared to keep wickets and play as skipper of the side as well.
The announcement was made by the franchise on April 2 (Wednesday), three days ahead of their April 5 (Saturday) fixture against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
"Samson will return to his full leadership role and resume captaincy from the team's next match against the Punjab Kings. The franchise is encouraged by Samson's progress and looks forward to having him back in action behind the stumps and leading the side,” RR said in a statement.
In the first three matches of the league for the side, Samson played as an impact player and scored 99 runs at a strike rate of above 150 and an average of 33 with one fifty to his name.
In Samson’s absence, Riyan Parag led the side and registered a win after two losses in his first two games.
