Shivam Dube was added to India’s squad on January 25 (Saturday) for the remaining T20s of the five-match series against England. Dube will replace Nitish Kumar Reddy, who picked up an injury on January 24.
"All-rounder Nitish Reddy sustained a side strain injury in the practice session on 24th January in Chennai. He is ruled out of the ongoing 5-match T20I series. Reddy will head to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for further management," BCCI said in a media release.
Rinku Singh sustained a low back spasm while fielding in the 1st T20I against England on 22nd January. He is progressing well and the BCCI medical team is monitoring him closely. He is ruled out of the 2nd and 3rd games of the ongoing 5-match T20I series.
The Senior Selection Committee has included Shivam Dube and Ramandeep Singh in the squad," it added.
Though part of the T20 World Cup 2024 winning squad, Dube injured his back and missed the initial part of the Ranji Trophy. He also missed India’s home series against Bangladesh.
It was only during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 that Dube started playing against. However, he did not have a good outing in the five matches that he was part of. Even in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, Dube scored only one half-century.
In the Ranji Trophy game that he was part of before being drafted into the Indian squad, Dube scored two ducks and picked just one game against Jammu and Kashmir.
