Sharjah Warriorz received a big boost in their International League (IL) T20 campaign of 2025 after they signed Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa as a replacement for Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis on January 23 (Thursday).
Zampa, who comes with experience of nearly 300 T20 matches (291) in which he has picked up 355 wickets, will join forces with the likes of Englishman Adil Rashid and USA’ Harmeet Singh in Warriorz’ spin department.
Having plied his trade in various leagues around the world including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Zampa is no stranger to conditions in the UAE where he was amongst the Australian heroes in their 2021 T20 World Cup winning campaign. He had picked 13 wickets from seven matches during the tournament.
“I am delighted to be returning to the UAE and joining the Sharjah Warriorz for Season 3 of the DP World ILT20. The Warriorz are among the best franchises in the tournament.
I am looking forward to working alongside the likes of Adil Rashid, Tim Southee and JP Duminy. I am confident that we will do well as a team and produce some fantastic performances for our fans in the second half of the tournament,” Zampa said in a press release by the Warriorz.
At the moment, the side led by Tim Southee is at the fifth position in a six-team tournament, Only the top four teams get a chance to have a go at the trophy.
